Wiley had made a sketch for this concept years ago, but never created the work. Last fall while looking though her sketch book, she happened upon the sketch. At around the same time, she was asked to create the Holiday windows for a local shop. She wanted the window to have something dynamic and she decided to create this revolving Mermaid Carousel.
The six mermaid each ride a different sea creature. Each figure and sea creature was individually sculpted and hand painted. The carousel has a canvas painted top reminiscent of a circus big top. The carousel gently spins by an electric motor.
